Walk-Ins at The Recovery Village Atlanta

While it is highly recommended that most patients schedule their admission in advance, our doors are open to walk-ins needing inpatient rehab.

Your Home Away From Home for Addiction Treatment in Atlanta

Do You Accept Walk-Ins?

Although we highly recommend scheduling your admission in advance to avoid extended wait times, The Recovery Village Atlanta accepts walk-in patients for our highest levels of substance abuse treatment between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m Monday-Friday. Walking in does not guarantee admission to care. Before you can be admitted, our Recovery Advocates will work diligently to ensure:

  • Our programs are the right fit for your needs and you’re eligible to start care with us, determined through a pre-assessment
  • Your health insurance coverage is accepted or you’re able to private pay, and you know what costs you may incur
  • You’re willing to start rehab and have all your questions answered about staying with us

What to Expect If You Walk In

Before entering the facility, the reception team may ask a few screening questions to ensure you’re eligible for our rehab services and looking for same-day admission. Our admissions phone line is available for other questions or needs.

You’ll be welcomed into a waiting area with a special admissions phone line, where you’ll call to complete your pre-assessment, insurance verification and approvals. If approved, you’ll be provided an approximate wait time, as walk-ins are handled between other scheduled patients’ admissions. Admission is not guaranteed.

While you’re waiting for approval, you can enjoy a comfortable waiting space with a TV, and we’ll keep your luggage secure, off to the side but in your sight.

Once your admission is set to begin, the facility staff will conduct a mandatory search of your person and belongings to maintain the well-being and sobriety of all residents in our facilities. Any items not permitted during treatment will be securely stored until your stay ends. Additionally, occasional searches may occur throughout your stay.

How Does Scheduling My Admission Help Me?

Scheduling your admission in advance is highly recommended, with several benefits:

  • A shorter wait time when you arrive onsite
  • Knowing your rehab costs, what to pack and facility policies before you get there
  • More prep time for your medical team to know what you’ll need, like dietary restrictions or allergies

The Rehab Experience After Admission

Patients at our facilities begin drug and alcohol rehab at the level of care that best suits their individual needs. Many patients start with a medical detox, followed by inpatient treatment. As they progress in their recovery from addiction, they may transition to less intensive levels of care.

Frequently Asked Questions

When are walk-ins accepted at your facilities?

Walk-ins are only accepted from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

What if you aren’t the right treatment center for me?

If we cannot admit you at The Recovery Village Atlanta, we’ll refer you to another rehab facility we trust that will be a better fit for your needs. Our community outreach team member will work with you for a smooth transition to the next stage of your recovery.

Can you pick me up or arrange a ride to your facility?

Unfortunately, we cannot arrange transportation to or from the facility for walk-ins. If you need assistance with transportation, call us to schedule your admission.

Will I lose my job if I leave for rehab?

Federal laws and workplace policies are in place to protect people who want to recover from addiction. Understanding your rights as an employee and having a plan can help you keep your job during treatment. If you’re considering using FMLA benefits to protect your job while you’re in rehab, it’s really important to start the process as soon as possible, even before you arrive for treatment. You’ll need to contact your employer to start the paperwork required for FMLA. To protect your privacy, you only need to say you’re seeking medical treatment.

What luggage or items should I pack with me?

At most facilities, only one (1) piece of luggage will be accepted. Remember that our team must review your luggage and securely store any contraband items for the duration of your stay. You can find our packing list and policies online.

What happens to my belongings while I’m waiting for admission?

Your luggage will be kept separate from you while you wait for admission approval, unopened and still in your sight. This is important for patient safety and maintaining a substance-free environment. If you’re unable to start treatment with us, your luggage will be returned to you unopened. If you are accepted for admission, a thorough search of your luggage will be necessary before starting care.

Will I be able to start treatment immediately?

Scheduled admission appointments are prioritized over walk-ins, so there may be a wait time after you’ve been approved. An estimated wait time will be provided but is not guaranteed.

Insurance and Your Obligation During Treatment

Nearly all health insurance plans require you to pay some out-of-pocket costs in order to access your healthcare benefits (collectively, the “Patient Responsibility”).Your individual Patient Responsibility will vary.

A staff member will review your Patient Responsibility with you when you’re admitted or as soon as you are medically stable. They will explain the deductible is due during admission and that the co-insurance amount and out-of-pocket balance will be billed and paid for once services are complete. Onsite financial counselors will review your financial responsibility again during treatment with case managers, who can also help you navigate FMLA.

It is your responsibility to check with your insurance provider prior to admitting at The Recovery Village Atlanta to understand your individual benefits plan. Please note that your insurance plan may not be a “participating provider” with The Recovery Village Atlanta. You are responsible for all non-covered and out-of-pocket costs related to your treatment stay.

Your Privacy Is Important to Us

The Recovery Village Atlanta recognizes your right to privacy. We hold each person’s confidentiality in the highest regard.

Upon arrival at The Recovery Village Atlanta Drug and Alcohol Rehab, each patient is given the opportunity to complete all necessary releases of information to allow staff to discuss important information with necessary others for continuity of care. No information will be disclosed to any party without prior written consent of the patient, following all HIPAA guidelines and requirements.
